Eco-Friendly Fertilizers

Creating Sustainable Agriculture, Providing Quality Feeds, Cleaning the Environment

Summary of Us
Biofly is a pioneering environmental sustainability enterprise dedicated to fostering a culture of environmental awareness and establishing effective waste management systems in Kenya. We actively collect both organic and inorganic waste from underserved urban areas, particularly slums, to address waste disposal challenges and promote sustainable practices. Our process efficiently converts organic waste into high-quality bio-fertilizer through a 30-day composting process, enriching soil health and contributing to sustainable agricultural practices. Simultaneously, we partner with Mr. Green Africa to responsibly sell and recycle the inorganic waste, ensuring it is processed and repurposed. These efforts not only help reduce waste but also promote circular economy practices, creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment for communities across Kenya. In line with our mission, we are committed to delivering premium bio-fertilizers and Black Soldier Fly (BSF)-based livestock feed, both of which are designed to enhance soil fertility, improve crop yields, and support healthy livestock growth. By integrating advanced bio-technologies, we offer eco-friendly solutions that minimize environmental impact while fostering agricultural productivity. Through these innovative products, Biofly supports farmers in adopting sustainable practices, ultimately contributing to a greener, healthier food system and ensuring a resilient future for generations to come.

Process
Biofly employs a sophisticated, environmentally sustainable process to efficiently convert organic waste into high-quality, nutrient-rich fertilizer, leveraging the natural abilities of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae. Our process is meticulously designed to operate in a closed-loop system, taking approximately 40 days to complete a full cycle of waste conversion. The process begins when BSF larvae are introduced to organic waste, where they consume and break it down for three weeks. During this feeding period, the larvae transform the waste into valuable organic matter, which is rich in nutrients that improve soil health and support sustainable agricultural practices. The larvae’s ability to process large quantities of organic material is one of the key benefits of using BSF in waste management, as they can significantly reduce the volume of waste, turning it into a useful product while also enriching the soil.
ABOUT
After the larvae complete their feeding phase, they transition into pupae, undergoing a natural metamorphosis. Once they emerge as adult Black Soldier Flies, they are carefully housed in our specialized breeding cages. These adult flies mate and begin the process of laying eggs, which takes approximately 16 days after emergence. Once the eggs are laid, they are placed on a specialized substrate designed to optimize the hatching and growth conditions. This substrate ensures the eggs have the right environmental conditions to hatch successfully. Within 3 to 4 days, the eggs hatch into larvae, restarting the cycle of waste conversion. This highly efficient, sustainable cycle not only provides a solution to organic waste disposal but also generates eco-friendly bio-fertilizer, which is free from harmful chemicals and helps improve soil health. The use of BSF larvae significantly reduces the environmental footprint of waste management while promoting circular economy practices. By continuously diverting organic waste from landfills and converting it into valuable fertilizer, Biofly offers a scalable, environmentally responsible solution that contributes to sustainable agricultural practices and the broader goal of building a more resilient food system.
